This program is an
alternative to traditional models of in-school (ISS) and out-of-school (OSS) suspension
programs and is offered in an off campus facility owned by Chambersburg Area School
District.
Students assigned to the program for one day will receive an
intensive, structured day of analysis related to their code of conduct violation. This
will involve completing a social skills curriculum and a brief consultation with
counseling staff. Supplemental academic curriculum will be provided to complete the
academic day and compliment the students interests.
Students assigned for two or more days for code of conduct
violations will complete the first day as was previously described. On the second day and
thereafter, their home school will provide academic work from the students teachers for
each course on their schedule. This work will be prioritized during each day of
assignment, followed by counseling that will increase in intensity based upon the number
of violations committed by the student. Supplemental academic curriculum will be provided
to complete the school day once academic work from their home school has been completed
satisfactorily. This will maintain the students on track with their home school and allow
for successful transition back to their regular classes upon completion of their
suspension.
Student suspensions are for a period of 1-10 days from their home
school. Their level of need will be evaluated daily with recommendations to the home
school occurring upon completion of their suspension.
