Program Overview

Psychological and Therapy Services are available for children, adolescents, adults, and families. The services are provided by licensed counselors, social workers, and doctoral level psychologists. In addition, some services are provided by unlicensed practitioners working under the close supervision of an appropriately credentialed clinician.

Program Services

• Individual, family, and group counseling
• Couples therapy
• Critical incident debriefing
• Academic and psychological assessment
• Professional training workshops
• Stress management
• Reaching and teaching adolescents
• Grief and loss
• Other topics designed to fulfill various needs at educational and mental health settings

Services are designed to assist individuals in adjusting to and coping with difficult situations in their lives. Laurel Life staff recommends a therapist to individuals based on the specific needs of a client, the interests and specialties of the provider, and the status of the therapist as an approved provider for the particular client’s insurance company.

Drug and Alcohol Services

Drug and Alcohol Outpatient Counseling Services are provided to individuals who are concerned about their own drug or alcohol use or the use of drugs and alcohol by a close friend or relative. Self-referrals are encouraged.

Referrals are also accepted from social service agencies, courts, schools, families, friends, and inpatient drug and alcohol programs.

Laurel Life Drug and Alcohol Counselors specialize in providing services to behaviorally disruptive adolescents and adult offenders. Outpatient services are licensed by the PA Department of Health/Division of Drug and Alcohol Program Licensure.

Laurel Life Drug and Alcohol Counselors have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree and experience working with substance abusing clients. Some Counselors have Masters Degrees. All Counselors are Certified Addictions Counselors (CAC) or actively involved in pursuing appropriate certification within the field of addictions.

Funding for the psychological and counseling services is provided by third party insurance companies, medical assistance, private pay and contracts with local county authorities.
