Program Overview

The J.U.M.P. (Juvenile Probation United with Mental Health Programming) program is an innovative intensive interagency approach to addressing the needs of youth and their families. To be eligible for receiving services, a youth must have an Axis I Mental Health Diagnosis, be involved with Juvenile Probation by order of the County Courts and have at lease one parent who is willing to work with the youth and the Team. The Treatment Team is a collaboration of professionals with the County offices of Mental Health, Juvenile Probation and Manito Family Therapy. Treatment modalities consist of individual and group counseling sessions, probation supervision, family therapies, medical management oversight, community service and recreational/social/cultural activities in the community. Program interventions are directed at preventing out of home residential placements through empowerment of the family.

Program Highlights

  • Services are provided in the home and community.
  • Includes individual, group, parenting and family counseling services.
  • Family Therapy/Juvenile Probation and Mental Health work as a unified team in all phases of the program from initial assessment through treatment planning and delivery to discharge..
  • J.U.M.P. services are provided at no cost to the family.
  • The program networks with the community, family, schools and psychiatric service providers to facilitate coordination of treatment.
  • J.U.M.P. utilizes a graduated 4 phase structure as the youth and family work toward achieving
  • Crisis intervention services are provided 24 hours/7 days a week.
  • Case Management services are provided to access appropriate, available services for the youth/family.

  • Post-treatment placement
  • Reports of consumer satisfaction
  • Decrease in inappropriate behaviors which prompted the referral
  • Increase in positive, adaptive behaviors
  • Increase in pro-social behavior

Referrals

Referrals are made through formal Court Order of the Juvenile Court.

  • Communication skills training

Funding

J.U.M.P. is financially supported through local county government funds, local Behavioral Health Managed Care funding, and/or grants.

 

J.U.M.P. is a collaboration between County Human Service offices and Laurel Life, a division of Manito Inc., a private non-profit organization.
